dead like me movie dvd / happy halloween

October 31, 2008

MGM have at last announced (on Halloween day coincidentally) a February 17th DVD release date for the long-awaited Dead Like Me: Life After Death, the direct-to-video movie that continues the story of the hit series. The DVD will be had for a $26.98 SRP. Beside the 87-minute feature in widescreen and 5.1 surround sound, there’s also a commentary and a featurette.. On that same date, MGM will also be releasing a Dead Like Me: The Complete Series Giftset (containing all the previous DVD contents of Seasons 1 & 2 plus the movie) and separate “repackaged” editions of Seasons 1 & 2. Sooo can’t wait.. I was about ready to cave and finally watch my DVDs (I’ve only seen the edited versions of the episodes on SciFi Channel so far). Now I’ll wait. 🙂

So I awoke in the morning… morning TV, got online… Blah blah blah.. While my dad was waiting for the mail, I watched the last three episodes of Family Guy Vol 6 (lol).. then we quickly took off once the mail arrived. Due to my expired ID, I had to enter the damn bank to cash a check and waste a lot of time in line. My dad did it on his own last two times. Ugh.. My dad went to a few places, then I went to Wal-Mart. Not my usual one, a newer one close by.. with a smaller parking lot filled with cars. No sign of TMNT Season 2 Part 2 (or I just couldn’t find it).. but I did purchase four packs of Power Rangers CCG cards. I would have gotten another two or three if I had known the price tag was a dollar more than their actual price. Then I found dad still searching for a spot once I got back outside. Definitely going to my usual Wal-Mart Tuesday.. with bigger parking lot..

I hurried home and got on the Home Beta. There was going to be something special for Halloween and I didn’t want to miss it. I did a few other things while waiting for the party to begin.. then eventually just gave up.. I went to my card binder and made room for this new series (by moving out the PRDT cards.. and leaving the Roswell, MMPR & MMPR:TM cards 🙂 ). I already got a nice shiny Green Ranger foil card. Coool..

My dad got some fast food for supper, then I got online to news-gather quite late. I didn’t even finish in time for 8PM. We watched this week’s episodes of CSI New York (yay, Indiana Jones.. :p), My Name Is Earl (haha), Kath & Kim (haha), CSI Las Vegas (it was alright.. interesting end though) and The Soup (they were reaching for laughs with a few of those clips this week :/). And that’s about it.. Blah..

The Power Rangers CCG checklist is now complete.. and a handy printable PDF version has been created. Nice. 🙂 So there’s really only two versions of this 80-card set. The three varieties of card made me think otherwise.. Well.. see ya..

prjf dvd cards / fox nov sweeps / today

October 30, 2008

It’s been revealed that the “trading cards” packaged with December 16th’s DVD releases of Power Rangers Jungle Fury Volumes 1 & 2 will in fact be cards from Bandai’s new Power Rangers Collectible Card Game. Cooool. 🙂

FOX has issued a press release for their November sweeps period. Beware spoilers for the month’s new episodes of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Prison Break, House, Fringe, Bones and Family Guy. Highlights include Simpsons‘ “Treehouse of Horror XIX” on November 2nd (really should be before Halloween, damnit), the two-hour event 24: Redemption, Roswell‘s Brendan Fehr appearing on Bones as Booth’s brother (great casting), and an extended episode of House (..by seven minutes). Also, Til Death goes on hiatus (i guess the ratings dropped.. and it’s their own damn fault for screwing up the show’s formula). 🙂

I awoke in the morning.. and watched some morning TV.. Then I eventually got online for a bit. Soon, I watched four more episodes of Family Guy Vol 6 (all of them extended.. “Lois Kills Stewie” runs 26mins, wow.. rofl @ Quagmire sexing Marge Simpson, then murdering the entire Simpsons family afterward during “Movin’ Out (Brian’s Song)”), followed by Raising The Bar (great episode.. some ending.. finale next week already?).

And then I got on the Home Beta for a while. Wow. A lot of people showed up later in the afternoon. I’m getting really tempted to purchase LittleBigPlanet next month. I keep hearing people say how awesome it is.. and how so many are playing online that the server’s been overloaded a few times. And now there’s some free DLC out next week. Coool. Plus, I played the beta.. for that very short amount of time.. and quite enjoyed it.. I wonder if I can download those free skins without the game..

We had some supper, then I got online to news-gather.. At 8PM, we watched Smallville (haha, great episode.. my dad’s really been waiting for the show to head in this direction.. he watched the original Superman series after all), Grey’s Anatomy (eh, it was alright), The Office (rofl @ the Halloween opening.. and the rest was pretty great too) and 30 Rock (haha.. but still overrated.. and all the ads in which they worship Oprah as if she were God sure doesn’t make me like the show any more.. ugh). And then I returned to my room for the night..

See ya.

home beta still a bit closed / today

October 29, 2008

Sony has sent out an update concerning the Qore subscribers gaining access to the Home Closed Beta. Only subscribers will get access, not anyone who who downloads the issue. “As an update to the PLAYSTATION(R)3 News email sent on Friday, October 24th, the special invitation to PlayStation(R)Home’s closed beta is available only to Qore annual subscribers who purchased subscriptions by 10/29. Qore Episode 06 purchasers will not be eligible for the special PlayStation(R)Home beta invitation at this time. We apologize for the miscommunication.” 😦

I awoke in the morning.. and got on Home Beta. No one was online. Well, barely anyone. I got depressed over a Home friend deleting me and went (virtual) bowling for a bit. Once I shut it off, I had to reboot the PC to get the internet connection working again (grrrr).. then had to reboot the living room DVR to get it working again (grrrrrrrr). So annoying. 😦 My dad returned home from dialysis while all this was imploding.. then I watched Saturday’s TMNT Back To The Sewer (not bad..). Next, we watched Ellen.. then I got online for a bit.

I returned to the living room a little bit later and watched the first five episodes of Family Guy: Volume 6 (lol, not only are these episodes now uncensored.. they’re also seem to be extended.. cooool 🙂 each of these episodes had a “original televised version” option in its special features, so “play episode” plays the extended & uncensored version.. one was about 2 minutes longer, for example), followed by Monday’s Power Rangers Jungle Fury (ew @ watching the premiere version with annoying “brand new” logo and blech closing credits.. I usually DVR and VHS the less-cluttered 11PM version, without those things.. but that wasn’t one this or next week 😦 ..episode was pretty ew too, for the most part).

I then got back on Home Beta. They were doing some kind of Halloween party with costumes.. and the most Home avatars I had ever seen in one place. It was cool. But I chose to turn it off early soon after I heard that our CBS was turned back on. It had been off all month, forcing me to download all the shows instead.. and missing my dad’s preferred local news and some other shows. The cable company refused to pay up to carry the affiliate. No mention of who caved. Hope it was the cable company (who supply my $42/month cable internet). Asses..

We had some supper, then I got online to news-gather.. I finished up by 8PM, then we watched Pushing Daisies (pretty good.. those two undercover as Chinese waitresses was kinda hot :p), Old Christine (lol.. so good to start watching CBS shows on the DVR again.. rather than downloading and having to wait longer), CSI NY (last week’s episode, DVRed tonight’s episode.. haha real dolls :p) and last night’s The Mentalist (this is most likely my favorite of the new series.. that deal with crimes.. that aren’t science fiction-related.. great show, nonetheless :p). And then I returned to my room for the night.. like always.. damnit..

For $42/month, they better offer “free home networking”. At least, that’s what I recall a commercial once saying. I should look into it. It’s starting to get annoying switching the modem from the PC to the PS3. Interrupting torrents and downloads, switching the cables back and forth multiple times a day. *looks @ prices on website* Oh.. nevermind then.. At first, I thought I’d have no problems since the PC and PS3 connect into separate ports in the modem.. but nope.. :/

See ya..

dvd ads nov 2-8 / today

October 28, 2008

[Current Music Download|Plain White T’s – 1, 2, 3, 4 (I Love You) @ MediaFire]

Click the corresponding retailer for their ad for the week of November 2nd to 8th: Best Buy, Target & Circuit City. I’d say the big release this week would be the feature film Get Smart. Get the two-disc edition at any of these stores for $22.99, or pay two bucks more for Best Buy’s neato shoephone packaging Limited Edition. Coool.. Get Smart: The Complete Series is also seeing retail DVD release with a Best Buy price of $109.99. So it seems the cheaply-priced first season was only a sales test and if I want to see more, I’ll have to pay up big time (not to mention double dip on Season 1). No thanks. I’ll wait for Season 2.. if any.. Best Buy is also exclusively offering Superman: Doomsday on Blu-ray a few weeks early (the official release date is 11/25), for $27.99.. Batman: The Complete Animated Series is going for $74.99 at Best Buy.. Tenacious D: The Complete Masterworks II will only be $11.99 at Best Buy.. and you get a bonus DVD. Or you could even price-match Circuit City’s $9.99.. who doesn’t have the bonus DVD.. :p

I awoke in the morning.. at 11AM. Damn.. We watched some Ellen.. then I got online for a bit while my dad watched his news. We then headed to Target, where I once again searched for TMNT 2k3 Season 2 Part 2. Due to being low on gas, my dad gave me the option of only one of two stops. I chose Target.. and I chose wrong. The same two employees I asked last week were there again. The DVD wasn’t on the shelf, so I asked. A flat no. No looking in the back room for you (er, me?). So now I must wait until Friday.. 😦

I got my usual icee, then returned home. I watched the final four episodes of Power Rangers Turbo (say what you will about this season as a whole, but that was one of my most favorite PR finales.. and the season actually wasn’t all that bad either.. the only thing that ever-so-slightly annoyed me was how Justin would keep pronouncing “dad” — “dee-ahd”.. every time, the same way :p), then got on the Home Beta for the rest of the afternoon..

We had some supper, then I got online to news-gather. At 8PM, I woke my dad up from his unwanted nap (said so himself) and we watched House (awesome.. and that ending, omg lol), Mentalist (great episode.. hope this one sticks around), Eleventh Hour (finally starting this one.. and I see some flaws.. or maybe that’s just because the similar Fringe seems superior?) and Little Britain USA (rofl.. man, I’ve got to get the original UK version). Then I returned to my room for the night.

Blah. See ya.

pr ccg update / today

October 27, 2008

Check out this checklist and the rules for the Power Rangers Official Collectible Card Game. It’s pretty much complete (only missing five cards). This first series, titled “It’s Morphin Time!”, covers Mighty Morphin, Wild Force, S.P.D., Jungle Fury.. and even includes a couple Power Rangers R.P.M. cards. One of them claims that the title for R.P.M.‘s Megazord is “Engine King”. Hm.. It seems Meijer and WalMart stores are getting these in early. They are offering them at about $3 a pack. Each pack contains “8 cards (5 common, 2 uncommon, 1 rare), 1 Parallel Holographic card randomly inserted (1:1 pack), and Gold Foil cards randomly inserted (1:6 packs)”. When Bandai was contacted about stock, they said to expect them in more stores beginning next month..

Upon finishing the previous entry, I once again got on Home Beta.. and finally unlocked another item. Yay. 🙂 I got the computer back online, then went to sleep.. I awoke the next morning and right away watched five more episodes of Power Rangers Turbo (good episodes, though still saw some minor desyncing.. and the start of “Little Strong Man” had no audio for a few seconds.. no spoken words missed though, as far as I can tell). My dad returned home from dialysis and we watched some morning TV. Then I got online for a bit..

I returned to the living room a little while later and started a new game of GTA IV. I just couldn’t wait to start collecting trophies. I got the first one.. for finishing the first mission.. then failed at attempting two others. 😦 ..So I got onto Home Beta for the rest of the afternoon.. and soon attempted to unlock a new item.. no matter how lame it was in comparision to other international servers.. We had a lame supper, then I shut off the PS3 rather close to 6PM. I got online to news-gather..

In primetime.. my dad headed to my room to watch his football game.. while I watched TV in the living room. :/ So I watched Chuck (great episode), Heroes (great episode here too 🙂 ) and True Blood (love this show.. another great episode, of course :p). And not long after that, I returned to my room for the night…. See ya.

Sunday 10.26.2008 —

October 26, 2008

Once I was done with the previous entry.. I once again checked out Home Beta for a bit. Then watched Degrassi TNG (pretty good episode).. before falling asleep.. I awoke to the alarm the next morning and looked through the newspaper’s ads for Tuesday.. even though there’s no new releases for me this week. I’m actually thinking about getting another PS3 game though. Too bad Circuit City’s gift card offer is over before I get anymore funds in though (get LittleBigPlanet for $59.99, also get a $10 gift card)..

I watched Bleach (eh it was alright), Code Geass (another great episode.. ack @ that cliffhanger), four more episodes of Power Rangers Turbo (great stuff.. may try to wrap it up tomorrow with the last nine episodes), South of Nowhere (Ima miss this once it’s over 😦 ) and The Soup (lol, especially @ the clip from The View), Monday’s My Own Worst Enemy (hmm, not bad.. it’s flawed.. and I noticed a retcon.. but not bad) and Wolverine And The X-Men (episode 6.. it’s alright.. looking forward to episode 7 though, it’s probably the reason why it’s not airing in the US until next year.. since it acts as a sequel to a direct-to-video movie that isn’t released until next year :p).

I ran out of time before my dad’s NASCAR race (which he watched for about 20 minutes before falling asleep), so I returned to my room and got online for a bit. I eventually pulled myself away from it long enough to head over to the bedroom DVR. I then watched Sanctuary (the two-hour premiere.. not bad, it’s sorta like Torchwood), Ugly Betty (lol, very good episode) and Everybody Hates Chris (haha). We also had some supper.. somewhere in there..

We eventually watched Funniest Videos (wow, the top three wasn’t funny whatsoever.. and the least funny video won.. -_-) and Desperate Housewives (very good episode, as usual).. with crap I didn’t really care about in between. And then I returned to my room for the night.. See ya.

Saturday 10.25.2008 — qore home invites / mst3k dvd sales

October 25, 2008

The November 2008 issue download of PlayStation’s Qore (aka episode 6) is said to offer a look inside PlayStation Home.. as well as an invite into the Closed Beta. So in just a few weeks, Home may be open to anyone able to pay $2.99 for a PS3 download from the PlayStation Store.. Neat.

It seems all copies of the Mystery Science Theater 3000: 20th Anniversary Edition – Limited Edition Tin Boxed Set, out this Tuesday, are already out of stock. All copies have already been snapped up by stores and pre-orders. Wow. Shout! Factory is now quickly preparing a basic edition (without a tin or any of the other collectibles) for release on November 18th.. If I had any plans to purchase this, I’d be worried right now..

Once I was done with the previous entry.. I got on Home Beta for an hour or two. Surprising how many are online at 2AM.. I went to sleep, then awoke at about 10:30AM.. after my alarm. Damnit.. I watched Best Week Ever (wow.. that was horrible.. yes, please make it even more like all those hollywood news shows that I DON’T watch.. stupid crap), last Saturday’s Biker Mice From Mars (lol Surfer Cats From Saturn.. nice) and.. last Monday’s Power Rangers Jungle Fury (“Maryl And The Monkeys”, oh gawd…… oh it wasn’t bad.. yay’s 4 Fran 🙂 ).

I then watched Raising The Bar (nice) and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (another very good episode.. this series continues to be way better than the movie). We soon went down to Circuit City, where I returned Casino Royale… Upon returning, I watched Chocolate News (ugh.. may give up this one).. then my dad joined me and we watched Samantha Who (haha), CSI (wow, great episode.. hope the Manikiller comes back somehow, that was coool) and Greek (another good episode).

We had some supper.. then I got online briefly before watching Supernatural (the 10/16 episode.. very good episode.. even though the black & white did seem out-of-place at times.. but I guess it wouldn’t have looked so great if they switched back and forth throughout it though). I was wanting to watch a movie.. but my dad didn’t seem to.. so I just got online for the rest of the night. Ugh.

See ya.

gta4 trophies / today

October 24, 2008

This coming Monday, a new Grand Theft Auto IV addon will be added to the PlayStation Network — trophies! A collection of 51 trophies in all. Hmm, maybe I’ll start playing it again.. then.. Because right now, I don’t have a single trophy. And I needs some. And GTA IV continues to be the only game that I own, so.. :p

After finishing up the previous entry, I got my PS3 online and began downloading the Resistance 2 Beta. Even though I didn’t particularly like the Resistance demo. And now I better hurry. Because this one now has an expiration date as well.. I finally watched an episode of Wolverine And The X-Men (neat) while downloading to waste some time.. but only reached about 40% before I paused it and got on the Home Beta (had to pause it, Home lagged with it downloading). Home really is like The Sims. Both games make me feel entertained and bored at the same time. Hopefully, there’ll be a lot more content by the time the user floodgates are opened..

Before I knew it, I had stayed online with Home up to 5AM. My dad had woken up and I let him watch some news. Then I took over again and he took off to dialysis. I nodded off to sleep, then awoke an hour later just long enough to shut the PS3 off. And then awoke again to my dad. He had returned from dialysis already. We watched some boring morning TV, then I got online for a bit.

Eventually, I took over the TV once again and watched Pushing Daisies (very good episode) and Heroes (omg @ the omg ending.. great episode too).. followed by four more episodes of Power Rangers Turbo (“Clash Of The Megazords” too was somewhat out of sync.. for a large part of the episode too 😦 ..otherwise, enjoyed.. especially the “Beware The Third Wish” /”The Gardner of Evil” hidden two-parter).

Once they were over, I got back on the Home Beta again. There’s a cool event going on involving– wait.. never mind.. Before I knew it, we were having supper. Then I shut off the PS3 and got online to news-gather. I finished online by 8PM. We watched My Name Is Earl (lol) and Kath & Kim (best episode yet). Then my dad wasn’t feeling good, so he went to bed early.. I watched South Park (I wasn’t into it all that much.. until the Cloverfield parodying started.. now that was hilarious) and Sarah Silverman Program (heh..k.. the massage subplot was a bit funnier).

And that was about it for the night. See ya..

October 23, 2008

I awoke in the morning and got online, then watched some boring morning TV. But we eventually went out to the grocery store.. for possibly the last time this month. Getting low on funds again. I’m now pretty much sure I’ll be returning the Casino Royale DVD. It’s the only one I haven’t opened yet.. and I recall only liking the action scenes when I netflixed it. Most of the talking scenes were soooo boring..

We got back home and watched Ellen, followed by Old Christine (lol) and Gary Unmarried (lol.. this is sorta like a male version of the previous show 😐 ). Next, I watched four more episodes of Power Rangers Turbo (two more of which had sync problems *sigh* otherwise, I enjoyed the episodes).. then got on the Home Beta s’more. And before I knew it, it was already 6:30. Ack. I shut it off and got online to news-gather. My dad fell asleep.. and didn’t wake up until after 7:30. :/

At 9PM, we watched Smallville (pretty good episode.. we liked it 🙂 ), Grey’s Anatomy (eh, it was alright), The Office (lol) and SNL Thursday (rofl @ the opening segment with Will Ferrell). And.. that was about it for the night..

Oh look, I’ve joined yet another social networking site — PlayFire. But I guess the difference about this one is that it’s all about gaming. Cool.. See ya.

pr official ccg / today

October 22, 2008

Sooo… anyone have any more info on this new official Power Rangers Collectible Card Game that covers all 17 seasons..? I sure can’t find any.. 😦 ..Oh, here’s a little more. So they even include Power Rangers RPM cards, use the awesome art from those Japanese “Rangers Strike” cards, and are just now hitting stores (Meijer in particular). And the official site is a work-in-progress. Coooool.. Gotta find me some to waste some money on. >:)

Once I was done with the previous entry, I got online with Home Beta to see who could possibly be there at 1AM. Hehe. I was on there about an hour or so.. before I fell asleep.. My dad woke me up an hour later, I shut off the game then fell back to sleep.. I awoke in the morning.. and pretty much stayed online.. all morning. My dad stayed home from dialysis, so he was watching all that morning TV that I’m tiring of..

I finally took over the TV close to 1PM and watched Chuck (very good episode.. Nicole Ritchie in a wet shower fight scene.. awesome 😉 ), followed by four more episodes of Power Rangers Turbo (good episodes, especially the Phantom Ranger ones.. GHOST ROBOT! ..but “Trouble By The Slice” had some minor sync issues 😦 ). Then I wasted the rest of the afternoon on Home Beta (it’s great going to the Japan server and finding that interactive stuff does not work for the non-Japanese.. and that it at one point did 😦 ).

I got online to news-gather by 6PM, then we had the same old supper.. because we couldn’t afford much else.. At 8PM, we watched Knight Rider (another pretty good episode..), Deal Or No Deal (dad watched, I took off for most of it.. too boring) and The Mentalist (episode 2, a bit behind.. good though). Then I returned to my room for the night..

See ya.
