Monica May has been cast as “Z”, the Yellow Ranger, in Power Rangers S.P.D.. Three down, four to go. πŸ™‚ In review…
Matt Austin – Bridge Carson (Green S.P.D. Power Ranger)
Monica May – Elizabeth “Z” Manners (Yellow S.P.D. Power Ranger)
Jason Tui – Chief Anubis / Doggie Cruger (Mentor / Sixth S.P.D. Power Ranger)

The Washington Post website has a chat transcript with DVD producer Van Ling, who has worked on some major releases over the years — including the recent Star Wars Trilogy. The most interesting part of the transcript would have to be that the next chance of getting the Star Wars saga on DVD would be a 2007 release for the 30th anniversary of Episode IV: A New Hope… Also, is getting a lot of complaints from readers who have been experiencing a disc playback problem with A New Hope On many players, the disc freezes for a few seconds (we suspect near the layer switch point) and then skips ahead several minutes. Fox Customer Service is taking the names and addresses of people who are experiencing this problem so they can arrange to send you a fixed replacement disc. You can call them at 1-888-223-2FOX. But, this is not a replacement for any of the previously-reported sound issues, that Lucasfilm claims are “creative changes”…

TOKYOPOP has announced an agreement with actress Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina, the Teenage Witch) and screenwriter Dan Gordon (Wyatt Earp, The Hurricane) to develop a live action motion picture “inspired by” the Samurai Girl: Real Bout High School manga and anime series. In this “delicious action/comedy mix of Clueless meets Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” Melissa Joan Hart will star as twenty-something-year-old Japanese girl named Ryoko who must destroy a coven of murderous wolverines that threaten to destroy mankind once every 5,000 years.

lol @ her playing Japanese.. This movie should be interesting…

The morning was mostly the usual TV shows. My dad went off for a while later on (job search) and I got to watch a DVRed Oprah episode that I only recorded to see Christina Aguilera’s appearance.. and put it on my Xtina tape.. :p I deleted that, then watched The Batman episode 2. Neat. πŸ™‚ I’m liking this series so far… Passions was quite interesting once again. After that, I watched my new Star Trek: Generations DVD. I liked the movie, just not as much as the other Next Generation movies (I only like TNG.. but I don’t think I have seen the last 2 or 3 TNG movies 😦 ). I’ve seen this movie many times a while back, seeing how I once owned the VHS. I hope there isn’t too much of a gap between the rest of the Special Collector’s Edition DVDs. I’ve been holding off on buying the current DVD releases in favor of these.. Later, I payed for a fast food supper yet again. At least he thanked me this time. πŸ™‚ ..I got online for a bit, ending it in a reboot for the first time in over nine days (a new record). At 7PM, I watched / taped You Wish! on the Disney Channel. Bad movie. I could tell after the first hour when Emma Lahana’s character, Fiona, stopped showing up. I started praying for an end to the movie. It was you basic magical Disney plot. Boy wishes brother away, life changes overnight without his bro, he slowly begins regretting the wish, then eventually gets the wish undone. The end. I tuned in for Emma Lahana’s part (Kira on Power Rangers Dino Thunder) mostly anyway. She looked sooo different here than on PRDT (*droools @ her in the cheerleader outfit* πŸ˜‰ ).. Lalaine was sorta hot in it too. She played the ‘regular female friend who the main character falls for in the end, after seeing his crush’s (Emma Lahana) true side’. Luckily, the movie ended 20 minutes before its scheduled timeslot did. Sorta. Because now there was nothing to watch but the Presidential Debate. *YAWN* It’s like watching monkeys fling poo at each other… At 10PM, we watched the NBC shows. Joey was pretty good. Still missing the actress for the neighbor though. 😦 This new girl’s look is too “clean”.. Will & Grace was way better than last week though. πŸ™‚

Overall, today was rather average, if somewhat good. *shrug* Yay, tomorrow’s Friday. See ya…

spd cast member / richard epcar / prpp mystery / dvd art / village dvd date / clone wars / today

September 29, 2004

Poweranimals has discovered an actor cast in Power Rangers S.P.D.. John Tui will portray the mentor role of “Doggie Cruger” in the new season… Let’s just hope they stick with the original “Chief Anubis”.

Rangerboard member Windgrail has done an interview with former Power Rangers ADR Director / Writer / Voiceover Actor, Richard Epcar. He also does English voice acting on some anime, including both the movie and TV series for Ghost In The Shell. The main highlight for me would have to be his comments concerning the firing of MMPR Productions at the end of production on Wild Force and the move to New Zealand. πŸ™‚

ABC Family has chosen this Sunday’s Power Rangers Power Picks episodes. Even though “Island Of Illusion” Parts 1 & 2 is actually in the lead, “Rangers Back In Time” Parts 1 & 2 will air this Sunday… 😑 ABC Family’s explanation? “Please note This Sunday – October 3rd Power Rangers Power Picks ‘Most Sinister Spell’ HAS BEEN CHANGED. Due to delivery issues.” Kyl415 asked for more information concerning this and only received this: “episode hasn’t come in yet”. Strange… has posted some new DVD cover art today: Star Wars: Ewok Adventures – Double Feature, Coupling: Season 4, and Tru Calling: Season 1. They also have some disc specs for December 28th’s Resident Evil: Apocalypse 2-disc Special Edition DVD. πŸ™‚ reports a January 11th 2005 DVD release date for M. Night Shyamalan’s latest film, The Village… I still don’t know if I’ll be buying this one or not..

SciFi Wire has a brief article on the final upcoming season of Star Wars: Clone Wars, which includes a lot of old info and a few new tidbits. The new season of 12-minute episodes begin of March 21st 2005. :p I’m also betting the DVD release of the previous episodes will be released soon before…

Today began with the usual crap. I listened to the Joss Stone CD I bought yesterday.. and sorta fell asleep. :/ I eventually woke up (and stayed awake) and I chose doing a few errands over staying home to play The Sims for a few hours. Glad I did. We went to three places, and I bought some things at two of them. A DHL truck stopped by one of the places as I was leaving. While, on the road, we notice something out of the ordinary coming down the road. It was a half-block-long tube of some kind, and it had police escort. It was gray in color, looked hollow on one end and domed on the other, could easily fit a standing man inside, and had a red logo with a “K”. It had a hell of a time turning that corner. My dad stopped in the parking lot of the last place for at least ten minutes or so and just watched it as it blocked traffic. I speculated that it could have been some kind of power pole, while my dad thought it was something from NASA. Very strange, nonetheless. When we arrived home, what may have been the same exact DHL truck stopped in front of our house and delivered the GPX Personal MP3 / CD Player that I ordered from for $15 over a month ago and thought I would never get since it was out of stock for the longest time. But yay. Now I can play MP3 CDs anywhere, not just on the living room DVD player (and PC of course). Time to get burning some more. :p ..Then, we watched Passions (it was fairly interesting today). And that Toys R Us Thundersaurus commercial aired again at around the same point as yesterday, Hmm.. After that, we watched Eternal Sunshine For The Spotless Mind. My dad couldn’t get interested because it forced his mind to work and took a nap for a good part of it. I liked it. Almost more worth a rental rather than my purchase of it. But besides that (and not understanding what was going on for a small part of the movie), I still liked it. πŸ™‚ ..After that, my dad left while I played more of The Sims. Before I knew it, I had played the game for 3 hours and it was time to have breakfast for supper (my dad’s still having budget problems). :/ …Then, after all of that positive stuff happening, I still didn’t expect the rubber band to bounce back. And I should have. I was watching Smallville and the DVR ran out of space, ending the recordings of that and Lost. At least the higher power getting his laughs off of my torture was lenient enough to do it during the week that ABC is re-airing Lost later in the week (“Pilot” Part 1 & 2 re-air Saturday night). But the repeated shutdowns of my irc fserv script is getting annoying. Some people are just too stupid to read not to do something.. then do it.. Anyway, Smallville was awesome. I’m already missing the atmosphere of Season 2 & 3 though. 😦 I also liked what I saw of the new Bernie Mac, as well as the new CSI: NY..

In all, today started awesome.. then fell. A perfect example of my life: whenever I finally get ahead in anything, a knock back down to my hell is always around the corner… See ya.

4400 & lotr trilogy ee dvd art / resident evil 2 dvd date / today

September 28, 2004 now has a larger version of the DVD cover art for the December 21st release of The 4400: The Complete First Season. *drools* Can’t wait to pick it up. πŸ™‚ They’ve also added Lord of the Rings Trilogy – Extended Edition DVD cover art reports a December 28th DVD release date for Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Can’t wait to see this movie again. πŸ˜‰

The day began with the usual in and out of sleep. :/ My dad woke me up in time to go media buying though…

First, I went to Best Buy and picked up Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (over 50 four-star reviews can’t be wrong), Star Trek Generations (finally.. they still had a few copies listing the trailers not on the disc though.. I got a corrected copy), Bruce Almighty (I waited a while to buy after seeing it in-theater), and Play 360 (some magazine. that’s a DVD..) on DVD, as well as Joss Stone‘s and Hilary Duff‘s new CDs πŸ™‚ I also bought some sampler CD I thought would be free.. but was $10. :/ I couldn’t find Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex Vol 2 or Degrassi TNG: Season 1 though. I guess the former was never put on shelves because of the label defects, and a Person at Best Buy said she spoke with someone who said Degrassi had been postponed or something too.. and I didn’t find it on the shelf, so.. *sigh* Those were the ones I was most looking forward to getting this week… Then, I headed over to Target and picked up a copy of Legally Blonde 2 on DVD (I saw it in-theater too and was waiting for it to drop below $10 somewhere.. and to complete the duology) and The Sims for PS2 (damn impulse buys)…

Once I got home, I had little time to do anything. My dad threatened me again about taking away my checks. I even told him that this is main thing keeping me happy. But he wouldn’t listen. He said it must be because there’s something wrong in my head. *sigh* Just pull the lifeline, dad… Passions was mostly uneventful. Heh. The ‘real’ Fox came back yesterday. I wonder when the ‘real’ Theresa will be back (the actors left for a bit because of their baby together). lol @ this Toys R Us commercial during it though. These parents were wondering if their son was enjoying his present, and his dad commented that it was hard to tell. Then it showed the kid doing everything around the house (mowing lawn. sleeping etc) while staring at a Power Rangers Dino Thunder Thundersaurus Megazord toy while his mouth stayed open the entire time. :p ..After Passions, we watched The Punisher on DVD. I don’t know I waited so long to watch this. We loved this movie. And I was surprised by how much I did. A little comedy, LOTS of action. Typical comic book movie. I found it to be definitely worth my purchase. πŸ™‚ ..After some time online and supper, I thought I would finally have time to watch some more Robotech: Masters.. but my dad decided to stay inside, so that screwed that up. He didn’t go outside until almost 8PM, while I was wanting to watch them at 7. So at about 8PM, I put in The Sims for PS2. I was only able to play it for about an hour (and I think about half of that was setup), but I already think I’m hooked. :p (I must make more time for it tomorrow!) ..My dad came back inside as I was about finished.. At 9PM, I watched Father of the Pride while trying to ignore my dad’s agenda about “all cartoons are for kids”. *rolls eyes* As in past weeks, I found the episode only mediocre. Then, Scrubs was so [much] funny[ier] (damnit I want it on DVD). After that, the DVR was alerting me of low space yet again, so we watched According To Jim (so funny) and LAX (so thrilling ..and was that the MathNet lady trying to pilot the plane?).

All in all, it’s been a somewhat above average day. πŸ™‚ See ya…

prpp vote 10 / lotr rotk ee & gargoyles dvd art / leno out, o’brien in / today

September 27, 2004

Jetix has begun yet another Power Rangers Power Picks poll: “Most Sinister Spell“. The options are Mighty Morphin‘s ‘Island of Self Doubt’ (“Island of Illusion” Parts 1-2.. with picture of Tommy and Kim from “Best Man For The Job”?) and ‘Transformed into Children’ (“Rangers Back In Time” Parts 1-2 or “Rangers In Reverse”.. with picture of PRLG’s Battlized Leo?), Zeo‘s ‘Machine Empire’ (“A Zeo Beginning”.. with picture of “Snow Business” Parts 1-3’s Robocupid?), Turbo‘s ‘Rangers become insects’ (“Honey I Shrunk The Rangers” Parts 1-2.. with picture of PRiS’s Barillian Bug?), or Lost Galaxy‘s ‘Hexuba’s Evil Spell’ (“Dream Battle” and “Hexuba’s Graveyard”). *rolls eyes @ all the errors* I voted ‘Island of Self Doubt’.. because they’ve never aired those episodes on ABC Family before (and it has almost half the vote at time of voting).. has added hi-res cover art for the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King – Special Extended Edition DVD set. *drools* has some new details and cover art for the December 7th DVD release of Gargoyles: The Complete First Season – 10th Anniversary Edition. Niiice. I’ll most likely be buying this. πŸ™‚

Jay Leno has announced that he will retire from hosting The Tonight Show in 2009.. and will be replaced by Conan O’Brien. Yay. I always wanted Conan earlier.. and I never watch Leno. But 2009 is a long time from now… :/

This was another one of these “sleep on and off all morning” ..mornings. :/ I did stay awake until 2:30AM to start the burning of another MMPR VCD after all. :p When I woke up for the last time, I was alone in house, so I watched the hour of music videos I recorded on DVR earlier in the mornings (like fast forwarding though the ones I don’t like πŸ™‚ ). Then, I finally decided to watch the first episode of The Batman that had started collecting dust on the DVR. I was wondering if this was good enough to transfer to tape. It wasn’t. But I like it enough to watch it every week nonetheless. Now I have to catch up, I suppose (I also have the other two episodes so far)… Passions was pretty cool. The change in Alistair’s voice was annoying. I miss it already. And now they have a real actor playing him (instead of one guy as the body, another for the voice).. and they showed his face for the first time ever. :p ..After that, I watched THX 1138. It started slow, but I ended up liking it (It’s also just a little familiar to me, like I’ve seen it yeeears ago). My dad barely gave it a chance and stopped watching after 5-10 minutes though. :/ ..The rest of the afternoon and evening was spent online. At about 7PM, I watched some Robotech: Masters on DVD. It barely held my interest though. 😦 After that, my dad actually came inside in time for all the Monday night TV. I was surprised that he stayed inside all night. So we watched everything on CBS (rofl @ Rodney Dangerfield’s cameo on Still Standing). CSI: Miami was especially riveting (even moreso than last week, perhaps?).

Today was below average. And my dad helped out with that, with his talk of not living to next Christmas. *sigh* See ya…

Sunday 09.26.04: –oredboredboredboredboredboredboredbor–

September 26, 2004

12:52AM has posted the final specs for December 14th’s Lord of the Rings: Return of the King – Special Extended Edition DVD boxed set. lol @ “Audio Commentary with 30 Members of the Cast and Crew – Including split personality dialogue with Gollum and Smeagol!” *pictures 30+ people all trying to talk at once* :p has gotten a hold of some nice cover art for December 21st’s DVD release of The 4,400: The Complete First Season. I hope they straighten out all the problems they have with producing a second season. At least the title is optimistic. πŸ™‚

Amazon now has cover art for the Now 2 DVD. Nice. πŸ™‚ Both the Now 17 CD and Now 2 DVD are expected in stores on November 2nd…

Power Rangers Dino Thunder‘s Emma Lahana is looking to sell her guitar as seen on the TV series. She’s considering eBay, and says she would sign it upon request…

Well.. goodnight..

The bored-athon begins. *sigh* Nothing to do but waste all afternoon on this computer.

This morning, I woke up and watched the entire VH1 countdown for the first time in forever (*drools @ Britney’s “My Prerogative” video*). Then I watched Best Week Ever on DVR rather than live TV because I could fast forward through the ads.. Then I watched an X-Files episode on DVD that I don’t ever remember watching before (“Eve”).. and fell asleep for about half of it. Damnit. Maybe I could try watching it again here in my bedroom later..

Let’s see.. I wasted most of the afternoon on the computer, as expected. Then I actually sat in the living room as my dad watched his football game (I had a small amount of interest). We had the biggest supper all week (my dad still refuses to buy a lot of groceries, remember?), then I fell asleep there for a few hours. When I awoke, my dad was pissed that the DVR had changed channels on him in the last minutes of the game. Heehee. >:) I warned him that two recordings will cause it to change channels to one of the recordings automatically.. So I watched the recording it landed on (Ned’s Survival Guide or whatever it’s called) while my dad moved to my bedroom TV for the rest of the game. He didn’t seem that pissed. Maybe because his team won. πŸ™‚ My dad left the house soon after it ended. I stayed and watched Unfabulous (*drools @ underage babes*), the final two Gargoyles episodes (both great, especially the last episode that wrapped everything up quite nicely), and the Toon Disney Dino Thunder promo for next weekend’s “Thunder Storm, Part 1”. πŸ™‚

Once again, there’s nothing to do. *sigh*

I watched most of Crossing Jordan with my dad.. since we could think of nothing else to watch. At least the day is almost over. Yay. See ya…

Saturday 09.25.04 — “Two White Rangers cannot exist simultaneously. Eventually, one has to go.”

September 25, 2004

I guess today isn’t going to suck that much. We’re finally going to use that ticket and see Resident Evil 2. πŸ™‚ I woke up a little early though.. I’m bored. :/

lol @ the new Skittles Bubble Gum ad and the new lame Jetix generic promo “Fe Fi Fo Fantastic!”

Wow. I actually managed to watch most of the Power Rangers Dino Thunder repeat before watching the new episode, which was quite awesome… So the episode begins with Trent visiting his father and discussing Mesogog. Cassidy shows up and tries to interview him concerning his latest project: a plant that can thrive anywhere. Trent ushers the duo out as Dr. Mercer begins his transformation. Back at evil HQ, Evil White Ranger experiences a power surge. Elsa explains that he’s finally losing his powers, and that two White Rangers cannot exist at the same time. “When Zeltrax created you, it caused a glitch in the Morphin Grid. Two White Rangers cannot exist simultaneously. Eventually, one has to go.” (I wonder when was the last time the Morphin Grid was mentioned..) Evil White decides it’s time to destroy the Rangers, especially White, once and for all. Mesogog completes his transformation and hatches.. er, plants a scheme… Ethan’s video game is interrupted by Evil White, convincing them to go into battle. And they do so. Evil White eventually brings his Dino Stegazord to the fight, the other bring Mezodon Megazord fully outfitted with the auxiliary zords. The Dino Stega goes down in the end though, and Ethan gains control of Stega. Mesogog sends his plant monster to the city and the Rangers meet him with Thundersaurus. Meanwhile, Evil White confronts Trent. He morphs (yay, I’ve missed this sequence) and Evil White goes Super Dino (so we can tell them apart). They begin to fight as a Megazord battle also commences, and the plant creates two other monsters to help him. Once the core three get kicked out of their zords, Tommy takes over in the.. Dino Stegazord? The White on White battle concludes with Trent as the victor, and Tommy takes down one of the auxiliary monsters but is thrown from the megazord by the other. Trent joins the others, and all five together, they eventually use all the Dinozords to form the Dino Rage Megazord for the first time. At this point, the Rangers destroy the remaining monsters quite easily. :p Elsa comes up with a plan to take Mesogog down before he does by striking when he is most vulnerable: when he is in Anton Mercer form. Anton arrives at the Cybercafe, gives Trent the award he’s won, and ends with Trent hoping Anton’s big project (of getting rid of his Mesogog transformations) is a success… Next Week: “The Thunder Storm, Part 1” — Lothor returns from the abyss, makes an alliance with Mesogog, and places the Ninja Storm Rangers under a spell to attack the Dino Thunder Rangers. Who will survive? (probably all of them, but still.. I’m being dramatic) That new DT/NS promo that aired this morning rocks. Dustin: “I can’t wait to face the Dino Rangers again.” Just one more week, Dustin, one more week…

Damn, I got a little cheesy there at the end, didn’t I? ..Anyway. I watched the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Awesome episode.. but where did the dart go? Or was it explained last week and I just forgot? :p While on topic, check out the Ninja Turtles series that never was. Warner Brothers considered picking it up for Kids WB & Cartoon Network back in 2001. In my opinion, the 4Kids version looks way better…

After that, I watched a few more things: yesterday’s new episodes of Grounded For Life, Reba, and Radio Free Roscoe. Again, I needed the DVR space. Argh. After that, I watched the day’s DVD episodes of X-Files. I think I might return to only one per weekend day. Two is more difficult to.. schedule… About forty minutes until we go. Yay…

Just got back from seeing Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Wow. I was surprised when I liked it even more than the first one. πŸ™‚ *drools @ Milla* My dad also liked it.. Glad I watched the first one on DVD first though. I’d highly recommend seeing that one first since it introduces the storyline that is continued here on a much larger scale. I already can’t wait to see it again on DVD. πŸ™‚

Boredom really set in after coming back from the movie. I surfed around th net for a while. Then, when my dad went outside, I took over the living room TV. I watched two more Gargoyles episodes (the Illuminati one was creepy). I sorta fell asleep after the first one for about 30 minutes, then watched the other. I still doubt I’ll get enough sleep tonight. :p After that, I played a few video games until.. now. My dad finally got me to get off. MadTV’s starting soon anyway.. and I missed it last week. 😦

Well.. see ya..

prdt ns teamup press / prpp winner / lost ratings / next now cd & dvd / today

September 24, 2004

ABC Family has issued a press release for the upcoming Power Rangers Dino Thunder / Ninja Storm teamup episodes (thanks to Batman192 for providing it). Beware though, it contains spoilers for the two-part episode…

September 8, 2004

BURBANK, September 8, 2004 . . . The five young heroes who make up the Power Rangers DinoThunder team — Connor, Ethan, Kira, Tommy and Trent — meet, for the first time ever, their six teen predecessors from the Power Rangers Ninja Storm squad — Shane, Tori, Dustin, Hunter, Blake and Cam — in a two-part episode of “Power Rangers DinoThunder” premiering SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2 and SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9 (8:30-9:00 a.m., ET/PT, both days) during the JETIX programming block on ABC Family. The episode will also be presented Sunday, October 3 and Sunday, October 10 (7:30 p.m., ET/PT, both days) on Toon Disney.

Entitled “The Thunder Storm Part 1 & 2,” the story begins with Lothor returning from the abyss and casting a spell on those who conquered him once before — the intrepid Power Rangers Ninja Storm team. Worse yet, he has aligned with Mesogog, the antagonist of the Power Ranger DinoThunder team. Before long, it’s up to the 11 new friends to call upon their sharp wits and morphing abilities and — as a pair of Red, Blue and Yellow Power Rangers alongside a Black, White, Crimson, Navy and Green Power Ranger — attempt to thwart the ferocious new force of Lothor and Mesogog who are scheming to destroy planet earth.

In addition, a marathon of past “Power Ranger” episodes — including the “Power Rangers Space Rangers” episode featuring the Ninja Turtles, and the “Power Ranger Wild Force” episode marking the reunion of ten Red Power Rangers — will be presented SUNDAY, OCTOBER 10 (7:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, ET/PT) during JETIX on ABC Family. The marathon includes an encore of “The Thunder Storm Parts 1 & 2.”

“Power Rangers DinoThunder” features adventure, drama and humor while emphasizing the importance of being a team player. Stories are punctuated by exhilarating sports and music scenes, martial arts and acrobatics, special effects and relatable young characters that, in addition to the typical challenges of their teenage lives, are given the new responsibility to help champion good over evil.

The series airs on the JETIX programming block on ABC Family weekdays (8:00 a.m., ET/PT) and weekends (8:00 and 8:30 a.m., ET/PT); on Toon Disney every Saturday and Sunday evening (7:30 p.m., ET/PT); and on the ABC Television Network’s “ABC Kids,” Saturdays (11:30 a.m., ET/10:30 a.m., CT/PT and 12:00 noon, ET/11:00 a.m., CT/PT).

Ron Wasserman (aka The Mighty RAW) has posted an update on Rangerboard today concerning his work on the Power Rangers S.P.D. theme song. Cool. πŸ™‚

The Command Center (or “Ranger Central”) has won this week’s Power Rangers Power Picks poll for “Coolest Lair”, so Mighty Morphin‘s “The Power Transfer” Part I & II will air this Sunday 11:00AM ET on ABC Family…

ABC’s SF thriller series Lost premiered Sept. 22 to strong ratings, dominating its timeslot with the best young-adult rating for a drama premiere on any network in four years, Variety reported. Lost scored a 6.8 rating among adults 18-49 and attracted 18.65 million viewers overall, winning its 8 p.m. timeslot in every ratings category from kids to 50-plus.

Wow. Looks like it beat the Smallville premiere.. bad. :/

The next releases in the Now That’s What I Call Music! series are beginning to show up on retail sites. The Now Vol 17 CD and the Now: Best Videos of 2004 DVD will both be released on November 2nd. No additional details known at this time.. except that Amazon has the CD cover art.. but yay. Can’t wait to buy them. πŸ™‚

The morning began.. with me going in and out of sleep all morning. Argh. And my dad had to go to the store without me. Grrr. Just before noon, I chose to watch two more Gargoyles episodes since I won’t have the chance to do so later tonight. Pretty cool episodes too. And I DVR the last two in the series tonight… Passions was uneventful.. except for that ending. Whew. Soon after that, I finally watched Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi on DVD. WOW. Awesome finale. The Dolby Digital 5.1 surround was so awesome. Demonstration disc quality, in my opinion. πŸ™‚ This has to be my favorite of the original trilogy.. and just might be my favorite out of all six. I guess we’ll have to see.. :p I also checked out the bonus materials disc, but due to time constraints, I only watched the “Return of Darth Vader” Episode III preview. It was neat. πŸ™‚ I don’t know if I’ll watch “Empire of Dreams anytime soon. I watched it on TV recently (two hours with commercials), but I heard this version is about an hour longer! Ack.. I wonder if the Ewok TV movies are any good? I’m considering buying the DVD upon release later this year… We had barely anything for supper again because my dad continues to refuse to buy most groceries. *sigh* ..My dad escaped as soon as The Tribe began. Great episodes though. *drools @ Gel* Then, I watched Joan of Arcadia‘s season premiere (it was alright), Hope & Faith (the new daughter’s hott), Less Than Perfect, and Medical Investigation (yay, less of a carbon copy episode than usual). My dad was still outside at this point (even though he said he’d be inside by Joan).. and I needed more DVR space (when do I not need it?).. so I watched two more Gargoyles episodes while the two final ones where DVRed (four left to watch). More great episodes, and my dad managed to come back inside just moments after I return to my computer. *sigh*

I hope tomorrow doesn’t suck like today has (except for Episode VI).. See ya. 😦

star wars dvd restoration / 24 season 4 / gits:sac dvd 2 label defect / today

September 23, 2004 provides this Star Wars Trilogy restoration info among today’s news:

Speaking of Star Wars, I had the pleasure of visiting THX’s Burbank facilities yesterday with Ron Epstein, Parker Clack and some 60 members of The Home Theater Forum, who are visiting the L.A. area this week on their annual California pilgrimage. THX’s technical director, Rick Dean, provided us with a first-hand look at the effort involved in fully digitally restoring and remastering the films for DVD release. Among the things we were shown was a glimpse of the original, high-definition technical master for A New Hope, prior to color timing and digital debris removal. At Lucasfilm’s press day for the event, Dean and Lowry Digital’s John Lowry claimed that literally hundreds – even thousands – of scratches, bits of debris and other types of print damage were removed from EACH FRAME of each of the three Star Wars films. They weren’t kidding. Judging by the images we saw, the digital clean-up work done by the folks at THX, IVC and Lowry was nothing less than heroic. Many thousands of man-hours were spent not only making these films look perfect for the DVD release, but also in creating a digital negative that can be used for future HD releases. “Creative changes” to the video and audio component of these films aside, you can be sure that every bit of that restoration effort shows up on the screen. And let me tell you, those of you watching these films in full frame are doing yourselves (and the restoration team) a huge disservice. Let that serve as my anamorphic widescreen pitch of the day.

On an interesting side note, DVD producer Van Ling was also on hand, and let us know that early numbers indicate that some 80% of the first day sales of the DVDs at Wal-Mart stores are the widescreen versions. Wal-Mart DVD sales, as you may know, are usually skewed heavily towards full frame. Hey… maybe people are FINALLY starting to figure out that movies like these should ALWAYS be seen in their original aspect ratio.

Yay. πŸ™‚

FOX has issued a press release for the new season of 24, which debuts January 3rd with a two-hour season premiere. The new regular timeslot is Mondays at 9PM ET, and there will be no pre-emptions or reruns until the end of the season in May, when there will be a two-hour season finale. Beware: the press release contains some minor spoilers… reports that an early batch of next Tuesday’s new Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Volume 2 DVDs were mislabeled. Dolby Digital 5.1 discs were labeled DTS, and DTS discs were labeled Dolby Digital. Some people buying the Special Edition sets will still receive both DVDs, but miss-labeled. Customers buying the regular release may receive the DTS disc. Bandai has stated that they will send replacements out “once this is fixed.” Ugh. Now I’ll have to look more closely when I buy it next week (my DVD players don’t play DTS 😦 )…

The morning began with the usual. We always watch the Regis & Kelly opening.. then we watched / taped the DVRed episode of Lost. WOW. Awesome. And the preview for next week looked exciting too. And Emilie got to keep her Australian accent here, unlike on Roswell. *drools* I don’t care if her character was pregnant, she was hottt. πŸ˜‰ Then, we watched last night’s Smallville so my dad could see it. Since his mind is ..older, he was even more confused about what was going than I was. :p Then, we watched the Reno 911! season finale on DVR. lmao. Can’t wait to see how they get out of this one next season… During Passions (which was mostly uneventful), the TV picture started messing up again. There’s been problems with cable lately that’s caused the picture to go a little screwy. And even the sound at some times. So my dad called them up, and they’re coming on Sunday. Haha. That might screw up his TV sports plans.. After Passions, I watched Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back on DVD as my dad hid in his room like a wuss. To my surprise, I found most of the first two-thirds of the movie somewhat boring. Overall, Episode V was still okay.. I guess. Still can’t wait to watch the last episode tomorrow though… I went online for a bit, then offered to buy pizza for supper today instead of tomorrow because my dad continues to buy sparingly from the grocery store. *rolls eyes* But I needed some more cash for that, so I went to Walgreens and bought some more stuff. The blank tapes I bought had a giveaway of $2.00 in Movie Cash in 1 of every 20 packs. I just happened to pick a pack with one inside too.. but the thing expired at the end of June. Grrrrr. …So I watched two more Gargoyles episodes while my dad was outside for the 12354525354th time. Both were awesome. Later, I was surprised to see my dad actually get inside in time for the Thursday night shows. Joey was alright, but they do something to whoever wrote tonight’s Will & Grace. I liked the Will/Grace plot, but the Jack/Karen/Janet Jackson one was just.. ugh. Then, we watched the season premiere of C.S.I.. lol @ the the new DNA person storyline, but I was expecting more from the “alien” one.. so I didn’t like that one too much. B+Near the end, my dad could not wait to go outside. He was hovering around the door in the last minutes like some pathetic dog. *rolls eyes*

Today was worse than yesterday. I became incredibly depressed when I saw my dad go outside again earlier today. Mostly for the fact that I’ll never be able to feel love for the rest of my non-life. I hate this isolation.. 😦

prdt vol 4 & 5 dvd details / prdt thq press / fall guy trailer / degrassi dvd & lost reviews / today

September 22, 2004

Disney Video is finally showing some initiative. πŸ˜‰ They already have listing pages online for Power Rangers Dino Thunder, Vol. 4: Collision Course and Vol. 5: Triassic Triumph, with correct descriptions and special features. There’s also a new trailer for these.. only it’s the Vol 1 trailer AGAIN, with the new covers and some S.P.D. / sentai footage added in. 😐

Also, THQ has at last issued a press release for their trio of Power Rangers Dino Thunder video games. Check it out… And according to SirStack, the music on the PlayStation 2 / GameCube game is composed by Inon Zur, who helped out on the music for the TV series from Turbo to Time Force. Neat. πŸ™‚

The official site for Power Rangers legend Jason David Frank’s next movie, The Fall Guy, now has a 21-Minute 78-Megabyte trailer (in WMV format) for the movie. They might as well have the whole damn movie available for download.. :p now has a DVD review online for next Tuesday’s Degrassi: The Next Generation – Season 1 DVD release. Mostly since he’s not a “young teenager”, he claims he didn’t enjoy it all that much and just gave it a “Rent It” verdict. Though he did highly recommend it to young teens…’s supremely positive review raises my expectations for tonight’s ABC series premiere of Lost. By the time I post this entry though, it would have already aired.. but the article does mention an encore of the two-part series premiere on October 3rd..

The morning began.. okay. My dad left to the grocery store pretty early, so I started playing Jak II. Awesome game. Already so much better than the first game. I played it all the way past noon. Heh. After Passions (which was boring again.. except for the goings-on in Allister’s office), I watched Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Awesome movie. Now that I’ve watched it, I think I’ve actually seen at least part of it once before, in school, years and years ago (post-1997 though). Some people on this DVD forum I go to actually report digital defects on this disc. I guess I was lucky, because I could find nothing wrong with my copy (of this movie anyway). Can’t wait to watch Episode V tomorrow. πŸ™‚ ..After more internet time and supper, my dad goes outside as usual and I watched two more DVRed episodes of Gargoyles. I’m liking the larger stories they’re doing in these last episodes. πŸ™‚ Soon after that, I watched the Smallville season premiere. WOWOMGWTF!?!? lol @ the overabundance of Superman references. There was almost too many this time. :p *hopes that wasn’t a body double for Lana in the shower.. but it probably was :(* And I liked the updated opening credits too. It was about time.. In the end though, I thought it was a great episode. After that, I watched the new Bernie Mac (damn, those kids are annoying.. damn, that was something adults usually say), then went into my room and watched That 70s Show on DVR. Why must everything air on one night?! I DVRed Smallville and Lost on the living room DVR, while DVRing 70s Show / Quintuplets and Hawaii on the bedroom DVR (you can only watch / record two things at one time 😦 ). At 10PM, my dad came in just in time for CSI: New York. Awesome episode. We both loved it. But lol @ next week: “a rat ate the bullet”.. and now they gotta go catch it.. in New York. :p Following that, I got back in my room and watched Quintuplets on DVR. πŸ™‚ I’ll have to leave the rest for tomorrow…

Overall, today was okay. *shrug* It could’ve been worse. See ya.

you wish / prpp 9 / wonderfalls dvd delay / misc dvd news / katie / ps2 update / today

September 21, 2004

Power Rangers Dino Thunder‘s Emma Lahana appears in a Disney Channel movie, You Wish!.. and it’s set to be re-aired on the Disney Channel on September 30th at 8PM. Set your VCRs, DVRs, etc. πŸ™‚

A new Power Rangers Power Picks vote has begun. This week, we’re asked to vote for Coolest Lair. The choices are Mighty Morphin‘s “Ranger Central” (’s what the site says lol), Lost Galaxy‘s Terra Venture, Lightspeed Rescue‘s Lightspeed Aquabase, Wild Force‘s Animarium, or Ninja Storm‘s Ninja Ops. Again, no video clips.. but the screwups are entertaining (a pic including the original Princess Shayla, wish I had a large version of that PRLG pic). I voted Terra Venture, but “Ranger Central” is in the lead as of this writing…

Ugh. DVD release delays suck.. and here’s another one. According to, the Wonderfalls: The Complete Series DVD boxed set has been pushed back from December 7th to January 18th because the previous release date was just too crowded. *sigh*

Yay. New DVD dates for films I want to see (again):

Anyone up for some big new 20th Century Fox title street dates? Look for Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn in DodgeBall on 12/7. Will Smith’s I, Robot will follow on 12/14. Even better, the critically well received (but hardly seen) Napoleon Dynamite will street on 12/21. Finally, Alien Vs. Predator will officially hit stores in January (exact date is still TBA). We’re made to understand that this will not be the recently rumored “director’s edition” because there really isn’t much unreleased footage – it just doesn’t exist.

Nope. The unreleased footage won’t “exist” until they’ve gotten all the money they can out of a theatrical DVD. That’s why Kevin Smith has shut up about his director’s cut DVD release of Jersey Girl: sales. *rolls eyes*

Also, Lucasfilm got back to on the topic of audio defects on the new Star Wars: Episode 4 – A New Hope DVD.. and they claim they are “creative decisions”. *rolls eyes* for more details, just check out the site…

Katie Holmes, who co-stars with Christian Bale in the upcoming Batman Begins movie, told SCI FI Wire that she sees her character as a transitional role to more adult-oriented material.

Woohoo! Pr0n! :p

Sony has announced an updated version of the PlayStation 2 that is much smaller, and is network-ready. Bastards. They shouldn’t need to update a game system.. because it makes me jealous of all the people getting the better version than me. I haven’t even bought a Network Adapter yet because I can’t find a ethernet cable that goes far enough.. and I find that it’s still a bit too pricey.. *pouts*

Janet Jackson Bares All in GENRE Interview; Entertainer Says President Bush Used ‘Nipplegate’ to Divert Attention from War Woes

Umm.. you’re not that important…

I actually woke up to a pretty happy morning.. for the first time in a very long time. After a breakfast and a short wait.. it was time to media buy:

First, my dad wanted to go to Walgreens and next door to that to pick up the application. So we did. I bought some things there, including some more Mountain Dew Pitch Black, then headed to Best Buy. There, I bought everything pictured above. I hope I like The Star Wars Trilogy. I’ve only seen Episodes I & II so far. >_> I got Mean Girls because.. it was a success at the box office.. and the hot babes that are in it. :p I was considering Nadesico, then heard they would be re-releasing it with the visual edits removed, and I waited for this release instead. Can’t wait for Vol 2 on November 30th. πŸ™‚ I still have haven’t watched Vol 1, but here’s Evangelion Platinum Vol 2. I may start watching them now that I have ten episodes here. Can’t wait for Vol 3 on November 16th. πŸ™‚ I’ve been considering Jak II for a few weeks now, once it hit the Greatest Hits line. So I finally got it. Can’t wait to try it out. I loooved Skye Sweetnam’s music ever since I heard her on the Radio Free Roscoe theme and “Billy S”. So I picked her CD up too. πŸ™‚ Then, I headed to Target, and got a few more things.. and that was it. $130 at Best Buy alone. Eek…

Once we got home, nothing much else happened. I watched the reburn of a MMPR VCD. The pilot episode kept freezing when I watched it yesterday. This new one doesn’t. Yay. I only watched a few minutes before going ahead to the next “track”: the MMPR:TM Secrets Revealed special. Damn, Zordon had a better voice in the special than in the movie. In my opinion anyway. I wonder why they changed the voices. Rocky’s “That was close” line sounded different in this special too. Weird.. During Passions (which mostly only got exciting in the end.. with Chad and the bat.. in Alister’s office. Haha.), my dad got a phone call from a friend in the neighborhood. He said the scum next door neighbor (who spliced into our cable, and supposedly stole our car stereo) was arrested today.. and my dad didn’t even notice. Heh. So after Passions, I watched my Mighty Morphin Season 2 Vol 18 VCD while my dad slept / made fun of it. “Wild West Rangers” was.. something. :p And after that, we watched Mean Girls (yup, already.. my dad slept through half of it though). Awesome movie. Sooo funny.. and the babes are hot too (especially those asians *drool* ..and Janis of course *Lizzy Caplan luv*). I recommend at least a rental! I’m glad I bought it though. πŸ™‚ Then, I paid for some takeout for supper since we barely had anything here. :/ My dad eventually escaped while I was online. In primetime, I could find nothing to watch, so I watched the first two episodes of Gargoyles taped from Toon Disney (at the point where ABC Family left off). I’m surprised how better Toon Disney’s picture is than ABC Family’s. Neat. These episodes were pretty cool (“Hunter’s Moon, Part 3” and the first episode of “Goliath Chronicles”). And since they’re airing two a night, I’ll have the rest of the series DVRed by the weekend. πŸ™‚ After that, I watched Father of the Pride (Donkey’s appearance was nice, but the Siegfried & Roy subplot was just horrible) and Scrubs (comedy gold, as usual πŸ™‚ ). My dad came in just in time for the latter, then we watched some shows on DVR afterward: According To Jim (lmao) and LAX (pretty good episode.. too bad CSI Miami killed it in the ratings last night. it needs a new timeslot)..

Today started pretty good, then flatlined on average. *shrug* See ya.
