Sunday 2.29.04: “I could save you some trouble. Good guys always win.”

February 29, 2004

Let’s hope I get to write the final ‘file’ of my critically-acclaimed story (ha, yeah right), Operation Stranger, tomorrow / today. I just wrote up a mighty fine story line for it, with a very open ending. Yay. 🙂 Well.. goodnight…

Yup, today’s been pretty boring so far. I woke up, watched “Ninja Quest, Part II” and “Legacy of Power” (again), then got into a few things on the DVR once my dad left for church. I watched two more Fist of the North Star episodes (looks to be only four left.. the ones I DVRed Friday night.. yay). Then I watched / taped that Lifetime movie I DVRed a week or so ago, She’s Too Young. I was mostly interested because Degrassi: TNG‘s Miriam McDonald had a somewhat major role in it. She played a teenage slut. >:) And the movie was all *after-school special*. Not that bad. *shrug*

I should never schedule DVD viewing around my dad’s schedule. He went off to church this morning. He promised he would be back “around one”… so yeah. My dad’s the most unreliable person I know.

This is what the new Lost in Space robot will look like in the new WB series this fall. Hmm…

…And in more interesting news, is reporting that The Family Guy has been given the green light to start production on an all-new season. And the article claims they could be back on the airwaves as soon as 2005. 🙂

My dad came home a few hours ago. He got sick at church. Strange. I watched the Roswell season 1 finale after he said to.. and then he slept. :p But now I’m so ready for Season 2 on DVD… lol @ us making fun of all the idiots fussing over academy awards fashion on E, especially the Rivers… 🙂

Looks like I won’t be getting to Operation Stranger today though… 😦

rofl @ the opening oscar montage… yawn @ almost everything else.. except for LotR:RotK winning those 3646487578 awards. 😀 ..I haven’t even seen it yet.. 😦

All in all, today was pretty bland. Ugh. But check out my favorite line from today’s new PRDT: “Back in Black” Toon Disney promo. :p

PRdude was awesome enough to scan this great Power Rangers article from February 29th 2004’s New York Times television section. It actually acknowledges the fans in thier teens and 20’s (like myself). 😀 I hope he doesn’t mind that I’ve added it to my own webspace so as not to steal others’ bandwidth…

…see ya…

Saturday 2.28.04: “Commemorating 500 episodes, may the power live on forever.”

February 28, 2004

So I’ve woken up and decided to print a few CD covers for some CDs I’ve recently burned. But I’m trying to do something even as simple as this, so of course it screws up. Everything I ever try to do screws up. Maybe some higher power is trying to tell me something… or torture me until I kill myself or something… *sigh*

9:01AM (Dino Thunder spoiler warning)
First, seeing “Ninja Quest, Part I” again was pretty cool… but all that was blown away by the all-new Power Rangers Dino Thunder episode, “Legacy of Power”. They managed to recap 500 episodes well. I was only slightly disappointed that they didn’t cover “Forever Red” at all.. I had to laugh a bit though when James Napier’s cameo appearance in the Ninja Storm finale was explained. It was Conner’s twin brother, who ended up flunking out of the Wind Ninja Academy. :p I also like how they explained that Hayley helped create the powers. Many were wondering how Tommy did it on his own. And will Hayley become the “Cam” of Dino Thunder? Maybe… All in all, it was pretty damn cool for a clip show… and there was another cliff hanger ending! *joygasm* The ABC Family promo for next week’s episode, “Back in Black”, was pretty cool too. Elsa: “Aren’t you a little old for this, Tommy?” Tommy: “I may be old, but I can still pull it off.” Haha. Also try freezeframing after that line for your first sneak peek at Tommy’s morph. The way they go back and forth from the morph and back to the previous scene for a few frames is great too. 🙂 The Rangers’ cycles seem to make their first appearance next week as well. Damn, almost time for TMNT already…

10:02AM (TMNT spoiler warning)
Yup, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles‘ new episode “What A Croc”. This was another awesome episode. Definitely better than last week. By the title, you may have guessed it’s the first appearance of Leatherhead. He lives where the Turtles used to live and is tricked by Baxter Stockman to build him a Utrom cyborg body.. thing. One thing I thought was odd was a mention of an albino alligator they fought in the past? A mention of the old TMNT animated series? Because I’m fuzzy on that kind of stuff anymore…

Also, Fox Box has decided to screw up my life even more than it already is by moving TMNT to the new time of 9:30AM starting next week. And my Fox affiliate happens to be retarded enough to air the Fox Box block an hour early. This means TMNT and PRDT will air at the same time here beginning next week. I think I’ll even pick TMNT over PRDT… I’ll just have to see PRDT about 30 minutes late on DVR… 😦

Great. It was blah until the Power Rangers Dino Thunder repeats started on ABC Kids. While taping “Wave Goodbye”, I could barely stay awake. Ugh. I only stayed up til 3AM this time too… :p

I went out to the drug store for some snacks, then watched another Roswell episode: “The White Room”. This was a very intense episode, and I was only bugged by the music replacement during the Max torture montage. The original song went along with it much better. Then I watched all of the special features. Both featurettes were great. I wonder how recently Colin Hanks’ interview was recorded for the “Area 51” featurette. I mean, he had a beard! Also, the one on the original book series (which I discovered before it ever became a TV show) really makes me want to read it again. I just might once the series is completely released on DVD… The music video was cool too, and those “Tess” audition scenes were only cooler. The first of them even seemed to be a scene that ended up being deleted from “Tess, Lies and Videotape”. 🙂

I slept the rest of the afternoon and evening, until my dad arrived home from work. And tonight was.. somewhat better than average. I’m pondering getting a few of those pocket CD-Rs.. solely for novelty reasons. They only hold just over 200MB or 24 minutes of music. 😐 Tomorrow’s gonna suck. I can see it already. ..see ya..

x-files 9 / mmpr vids / clone wars / today / joan

February 27, 2004

I had nice half-entry written up… but like all nice things I own, it got lost… oh well.. I’ll just try and reconstruct it the best I can…

The complete specs and release date are in for The X-Files: The Complete Ninth Season on DVD, from! This really looks like a sweet set. It contains many behind-the-scenes featurettes, including a 90-minute doc focusing only on the making of the series finale, and the two “Secrets of the X-Files” specials that aired on TV years ago. They even made the smart choice of dropping the usual retail price of the sets from $149.98 to $99.98 for this final season. I so can’t wait to add this to my collection on May 11th! 🙂

PRC’s zyuray provides us with some blasts from the power past… in the form of some classic reports on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers by some entertainment news outlets of the time. Check it out. 🙂

* Saturday, April 10 at 12:00am: Chapters 16-20

Today… I woke up, watched Passions, then watched two more Roswell episodes: “Four Square” and “Max To The Max”. For some reason, this time around I didn’t like “Four” as much (except for that scene with lesbian vibes between Isabel and Tess. 😉 ). But, “Max was awesome. And the music replacement didn’t really bug me that much in these episodes either… 🙂 …but now there’s only two left.. that I’ll probably watch tomorrow…

Tonight’s Joan of Arcadia was surprisingly.. bland. For the first time ever. I only found the opening and ending scenes worth anything. Ah well, at least I’ll finally get to catch up my collection of this show’s taped episodes with the repeat next Friday. 🙂

Friday’s finally over. Woohoo! Can’t wait for Power Rangers episode 500 in the morning. See ya… :p

sensei in dt / dt black promo & kira mp3 / tmnt on cn / today / cd list

February 26, 2004

Check out this neat interaction from the Power Rangers newsgroup (concerning a scene from Dino Thunder episode 3):

Crowmeus: “The character in the game Ethan was playing at Hayley’s Cyberspace looked like Sensei (in Guinea Pig form) to me. Of course, with all the shadows in the game, it was hard to tell for sure.”
Doug Sloan: “Good eye.”

Haha. I sorta noticed that when I saw the episode too… 🙂

DinoSite has ABC Family’s “New Ranger on Dino Thunder” promo now on their media page in WMV and RM formats. I caught it on the DVR this morning, and I thought it was nothing that big. It is only 15 seconds, after all… Also, Wes Janson has fine-tuned his Second Mix of Kira Ford’s “Freak You Out”. And this one’s the best yet. Awesome job, Wes. 🙂

For those who can’t afford to buy the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003) DVDs, here’s some good news. Beginning April 19th, Cartoon Network will begin airing TMNT 2k3 Monday through Friday at 6PM ET. This is part of a new “Meguzi” block aimed toward 6-11 year olds, that will replace Toonami (*gasp*). Toonami will now only air Saturday nights at 7PM beginning on April 17th.. and I’ve heard it will be aimed at an older audience… For more info about this whole thing, just click here.

Also, the PlayStation Portable I have been looking forward to… has been delayed until 2005… 😦

Today, I woke up about ninety minutes late, watched Passions, then two more DVD episodes of Roswell: “Crazy” and “Tess, Lies and Videotape”. The only music replacement that really bugged me in these episodes was the one in place of Sneaker Pimp’s “6 Underground”. It was just.. horrible. Besides that, it was great to see these episodes again. Only four left! *gasp* Then I watched last night’s Chappelle’s Show. That “internet as a real place” skit had to be the most hilarious one i’ve seen from this show (i did miss most of season 1 though..).

The rest of the afternoon and evening was most dedicated to moving more files from floppy disks to CD. Today, I was moving my saved Roswell files and found a lot of old stuff like cast promo pics, book covers, and a few unproduced / uncut scripts. 🙂

Yay. I also got to burn another CD… 🙂

prdt teaser & mp3 / movie news / today / roswell / rocko / passion / links

February 25, 2004

Damn. I missed a new 15-second Power Rangers Dino Thunder Black Ranger teaser (entitled “A Legend Returns”) on ABC Family today. I’ve heard it only included brief shots of sections of the Black Ranger’s suit though. Looks like I’ll be DVRing Ninja Storm in the morning…

Rangerboard member Wes Janson has put together some awesome unofficial mixes of the song sung by Kira in Dino Thunder: First Mix & the superior updated Second Mix. Oh, I so hope they release a Dino Thunder Soundtrack CD…

This article, ..focusing on a straight-to-DVD Dr. Dolittle sequel.., reveals how well the very bad — yet nude former Power Ranger-starring (Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue‘s Sasha Williams) — film Darkwolf did in sales last year… $5 million? Wow. Very surprising, indeed.

Dark Horizons has some awesome news on X-Men 3.. from Cinescape.. who got it from Wizard magazine. :p Apparently, they want to film X3 and X4 together. Yay. And I found this tidbit most exciting: “According to Singer, the idea behind X3 is what would happen if humans and mutants went up against evolution itself”. O_O

“Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment will partner on a sequel to last year’s Underworld and have set a fall start for the production, Variety reported.” Awesome. I really liked the first one… * 😛 @ jake *

Today… I woke up and wasn’t tired immediately (because I got to bed at about 3:30AM.. which is earlier than usual). We watched yesterday’s Passions and Scrubs (omg @ the surprise ending.. I am so buying this series on DVD)…

After that, I watched the next two DVD episodes of Roswell Season 1: “Independence Day” and “Sexual Healing”. Great episodes. I haven’t been commenting on the episodes themselves here because I’m thinking that greatness is implied. This is Roswell we’re talking about. And I’ve seen these episodes quite a few times, just never in such awesome audio / video quality that comes with DVD. Anyway, the two I watched today in a way close the series’ first chapter. The “pure” teen drama / sci-fi chapter, before the networks came in and stirred the pot. Right after I first watched the first season finale, I knew that they had sped up the storyline. And I didn’t think that was a good idea. I thought the revelation we got in the end should have come some time in season 2, or maybe even at the end. But still, I thought what we got when they flipped the show into a sci-fi / teen drama was pretty awesome too. The only Roswell episodes I’ll admit to disliking were in early season 3… So the music replacement here only bugged me in “Independence Day”. I miss Collective Soul’s “Run” already…

Oh. So the regular Rocko timeslot I talked about the other day isn’t as “regular” as I thought. I was going to tape another episode today… but Nickelodeon has replaced it with Angry Beavers. They better not replace the Friday airing. Those are two of my favorite (15-minute) episodes of the entire series…

I’m already getting tired of all the “hype” about this Passion of the Christ movie. Ugh. Does it really need to be on the local news three times a day? To me, it’s just a completely fictional movie. People found the bible and immediately took it as 100% truth. I wonder, will people find a copy of Harry Potter in a few thousand years and take that as 100% truth as well? *shudders* I guess I just don’t like “religion” thrown in my face…

Yay. It’s almost Thursday… So close to the new Dino Thunder episode… :p See ya..

Alien Resurrection - Collector's Edition DVD

Grrrrrrrr. I didn’t have much money left in this last Tuesday of the month, so I had planned to buy Full Metal Panic!‘s final volume, which wasn’t there last week (its release date). I get there.. and it STILL ISN’T THERE. Ugh. So I now must wait another week (my next check arrives by then)… Instead I bought Alien Resurrection (before even watching Alien 3), and a some slim CD jewel cases.. for my CD-Rs.. *wonders which version of Alien 4 to watch (1997 or 2003)* gets the scoop once again — this time for The X-Files: Season 9 DVD. They’ve uncovered the cover art right here. Maybe since it’s in with the Spring 2004 slate, maybe it’ll be released before November 2004? 😀 [Edit: has a larger look at the cover and disc art. Now we can clearly make out that there will be TWO discs of extra features. O_O]

*lol @ people actually beyblading in real life* and…

Third Installments of Best-Selling Jak and Daxter and Ratchet & Clank Franchises Arriving Fall 2004 Exclusively on PlayStation2. Yay. 🙂

I woke up and watched two more episodes of Roswell, “The Convention” and “Blind Date”. Again, I was pretty bugged by the music replacement. I especially missed The Toyes’ “Waiting For The Aliens” and Lenny Kravitz’s “Stand By My Woman”. 😦

Inspired by watching these episodes again, I even made another CD… 😀

“Roswell: Songs From The Hit TV Series – Part I” CD:
Dido – Here With Me (Roswell theme – Vinter’s Max & Liz Remix)
Sarah McLachlan – Fear
Semisonic – Made To Last
Mandy Moore – Candy
Counting Crows – Colorblind
Stroke 9 – Little Black Backpack
Ginny Owens – If You Want Me To
Santana featuring Everlast – Put Your Lights On
Save Ferris – Let Me In
Jewel – Absence Of Fear
Counting Crows – Amy Hit The Atmosphere
Roswell – Majandra Delfino – In The Air Tonight
Collective Soul – Run
Bush – 40 Miles From The Sun
Sneaker Pimps – 6 Underground
Roswell – Jason Behr – Tres Dias
Roswell – Colin Hanks & Nick Wechsler – American Pie
Roswell – Majandra Delfino – I’ve Got The World On A String
Roswell – Majandra Delfino – I’ve Got It Bad (And That Ain’t Good)
Roswell – Majandra Delfino – Amazing Grace
Roswell – William Sadler – If I Had A Million Dollars
Roswell – Majandra Delfino – Breathing On My Own
Roswell – Majandra Delfino – Only When You Go
Roswell – Majandra Delfino – Behavior (Acoustic Guitar Version)
Roswell – Majandra Delfino & William Sadler – Paradise By The Dashboard Light
Roswell – TV Opening Theme (Dido – Here With Me)
Roswell – TV Closing Theme

As you can see, I’ve included a lot of memorable songs, some that were cut from the Season 1 DVD, and just about every single musical performance on the show (in chronological order). Ever (they’re prefixed with ‘Roswell’). And it’s only “Part I” because I still can’t seem to find a few of the songs I wanted to add.. and there’s a few left over that I wanted to add as well. :p

Damn. Today was boring too. Sigh. See ya…

Batman192 has posted the next week of ABC Family Jetix listings (March 8 – 14th) on RangerBoard here (expect a livejournal entry update.. when I feel like it). He has also provided us with this description for Power Rangers Dino Thunder episode 6:

Saturday, March 13, 2004
Power Rangers DinoThunder (8:30 am ET/PT) “Diva in Distress” — Kira’s friend, who is now a pop star, comes to town and is turned into an old woman by the Donkeyvac monster.

This must be the first time I’m not looking forward to a new episode as much… though, now that I think about it, I wasn’t looking forward to “Wave Goodbye” that much either and it was pretty cool. :p

I woke up this morning and immediately watched two more Roswell episodes, “The Toy House” and “Into The Woods”. I was happy to hear that they kept Counting Crows’ “Amy Hit The Atmosphere” for “Toy House”. It’s another memorable song. But I guess they had to keep that song since Isabel mentions the group by name in the episode. :p To tell you the truth, I find “Woods” to be the most low point of Season 1. I just find it very light.. on everything..

Then I attempted to finally watch Lost in Translation. It’s seemed more like a Tokyo tourism video than a movie to me… Blah. I could barely stay awake. Then I survived to tape Rocko’s Modern Life (at least Nickelodeon has finally placed it on a regular schedule.. of Mon-Wed-Fri at 3PM ET).

That was so strange. I swear I woke up only seconds before my dad arrived home from work. And he arrived home over a half hour early…

Damn. Today was, for the most part, boring. Well.. see ya.

Sunday 2.22.04: zZzZzZzZzZz…

February 22, 2004

Ew, the Now Vol 15 CD cover art. But bad cover art’s to be expected from this series anymore…

I know I’m gonna regret staying up this long.. since I’m due to wake up at 7AM.. but.. goodnight…

lol @ how cheesy Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure is. I got to see almost the entire movie (undoubtedly edited for time and content) on ABC Family after I got back from breakfast. My dad wants to see the opening of his Nascar race before he gets to work, so I have to wait until he leaves to watch what I want…

Today consisted of.. mostly boredom. I tried out Red Bull earlier.. and it wasn’t that effective. Ugh. I also watched two more Roswell episodes, “Heat Wave” and “The Balance”. The music replacement got particularly annoying today, especially with “Heat Wave”‘s opening. Maybe I’ll keep those Season 1 VCDs after all…

[Dino Thunder spoiler warning]

After that, I fell asleep during a Fist of the North Star episode, then managed to stay awake for Toon Disney’s premiere of yesterday’s Dino Thunder episode, “Wave Goodbye”. There was indeed a different promo for “Legacy of Power”. It revealed a bit more of the plot (Mesogog: “I know you know what’s inside this stone. You’re going to help me get it out.” dino gem, maybe?), an intro to his video diary (“I’m Tommy Oliver. If you’re not me, there’s something seriously wrong.” “What you’re about to see is my history as a Power Ranger.”), and some other neat lines (Conner: “Our teacher is the oldest living Power Ranger.” Ethan: “We have to save him. We owe it to him.” Kira: “The whole world owes him.”). Can’t wait for Saturday… 😀

[/Dino Thunder spoiler warning]

Then, I watched everything on Fox. Simon Cowell on the Simpsons. Heh. But lol @ his voiceover during the closing credits. Then my dad and I listened in on some of the nieghborhood crackheads talking on their walkie talkies. Haha…

Ugh. Monday. Under ten minutes away. 😦 Help.. me… See ya.

Saturday 2.21.04: “You’ve done this before, haven’t you?” “Once or twice.”

February 21, 2004

Fri 8:44PM
Here’s something I thought I should point out… kyl416 is reporting that the “batman” line of dialogue from the Power Rangers Dino Thunder season premiere (Ethan: “He’s a teacher, not.. batman”) has been edited out as of the Friday morning airing on ABC Family. Strange.

It’s true. My body is used to only four hours sleep. I actually went to sleep at a more earlier time last night (1-1:30AM)… and now here I am. I can’t sleep anymore. 😦

I’m thinking the only redeeming factor of “Storybook Rangers” is seeing Kim.. dressed the way she was.. <_< *ahem*

9:00AM (Dino Thunder spoiler warning)
WOW. Usually, the Power Rangers season premiere follow-up episode isn’t as awesome as the first one, but Power Rangers Dino Thunder has succeeded with “Wave Goodbye”! It was awesome. We’re already introduced to the new “hangout spot” for the season (Hayley’s Cyberspace), meet Trent (Kira falls for him right away ..ew..), and the Rangers are introduced to the Raptor Riders in all their CGI glory. 🙂 We even got a real performance of Kira’s song “Freak You Out” and a nice cliffhanger with Tommy’s capture (I love cliffhangers). My favorite line? Conner: “Doctor O., we may have a problem on our hands.” Tommy: “Let me guess, a thirty story version of that guy you were just fighting?” Ethan: “You’ve done this before, haven’t you?” Tommy: “Once or twice.” Haha. 🙂 The episodic promo for next week’s episode (“Legacy of Power”) debuted outside of the closing credits during the last ad break, the way it should be. That promo was pretty awesome too, showing classic clips of Tommy as Green, White, and Red Rangers, as well as shots of the Wild Force, Time Force and Lightspeed Rescue Rangers. Looks like we’re finally getting schooled in Ranger History next week. Can’t wait. 😀

10:07AM (TMNT spoiler warning)
Casey finally makes his move on April, while Nano returns in… “The Return Of Nano” on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. A nice episode, really, like the first appearance of Nano in Season 1. And I don’t have much more to say… I’m still coming off of the “new Dino Thunder episode” buzz. :p

Just finished rewatching / retaping the Dino Thunder premiere on ABC Kids. My dad actually watched a good part of Part I. Whee. The “batman” line was still there on this airing, but the announcer screwed up the instrumental version in the closing credits. Grr. It looks like this is where I’ll be taping it (for keeps) every week…

Following that, we watched Passions and two more Roswell episodes, “River Dog” and “Blood Brother”. This time, the music replacement only bugged me at the ending of ‘Brother’. I doubt it would’ve cost much more to get Ginny Owens’ “If You Want Me To”. Grr. That was one of the most memorable songs of Season 1 for me… Then, my dad left for work…

One thing I never noticed (or forgot about soon after discovering it) was that Power Rangers Turbo‘s Hilary Shepard Turner (Divatox) showed up on Roswell‘s “Blood Brother” as a nurse who gets hit on by one of the alien teens to distract her. Heehee. Neat. 🙂

Haha. I think that my dad thinks that Reno 911 is real. :p

Today has been.. neat. A part of me wants to rewatch today’s Dino Thunder already… but MadTV’s about to start.. and I want to wait for the Toon Disney premiere tomorrow night (with possibly a new “Legacy of Power” episodic promo).. so see ya… 🙂

Bandai America has revealed its Spring 2004 toy line, including some new Power Rangers Dino Thunder toys. They include Dino ATVs, Hovercraft Cycles, a green Triptoid, and even a few that hint moreso that the Triassic Ranger will be a completely separate ranger this year (the most convincing being the never-before-seen Triassic Morpher). Check it out on the Bandai site as PDFs [username: bandai2003 / password: catalog] or as an “easy view” version with JPEGs (thanks to Red Isis Ranger)…

It looks like we may already have some release dates for the first volumes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003): Season 2! Volume 9: Turtles In Space is due on May 4th, and Volume 10: Secret Origins is due on June 8th. Click here for episode information. 🙂

A tentative August 10th, 2004 release date is already set for the Roswell: The Complete Second Season DVD boxed set, according to an inside source. This still keeps with the Feb 2004 – July/Aug – Feb 2005 timeframe I had heard.. from this same source. 😀

The new look of DVDAficionado looks awesome! I am so donating via Paypal… once it’s online… in mid-2004. One of the options of the new site will be a collection URL. Yay. 🙂

After staying up late once again (to about 7:30AM!), I reset my alarm for even later. When I woke up, we watched Passions and two more episodes of Roswell Season 1: “Missing” and “285 South”. Again, the music replacement bugged me just a little… Then I finally recieved my Amazon order in the mail: City Hunter manga volume 2 and Willa Ford’s “A Toast To Men” Explicit Maxi-Single CD. 🙂 Then I was finally able to burn a new CD…
