The Power Rangers are BACK! / krdk emmy nomination / today

[Current Music Download|Super Power – Here Comes The Power Again @ MediaFire]

It all began with a hinting on twitter some months ago…

@LinearRanger @csaban It may not mean much, but with Power Rangers ending, could you just tell your husband that this 25 year old fan said Thank You.
@csaban @LinearRanger he’ll appreciate that. But don’t throw in the towel yet. Changes are brewing.

And today, the “changes” have finally been revealed. Haim Saban has bought back the Power Rangers franchise from Disney. Awesome. And yes, I couldn’t believe this news when I first heard it either. :p Saban Capital Group has bought the franchise and already has a deal in place to do a 20-episode eighteenth season of the series set to air on Nickelodeon in Spring 2011. And it will be under the direction of the original executive producer Jonathan Tzachor. Wow. And Bandai will still be making the toys, and their sister company have also gotten the video game rights back. They made some great Mighty Morphin games back in the day. πŸ™‚

Plus Yahoo!’s article is even claiming a new Power Rangers feature film is in the works. Mr. Saban said he felt that Disney “did not develop the property and exploit it in the way that it deserves.” Ain’t that the truth.. “I think this property has significant legs going forward if it’s in an environment where it is nurtured and supported as opposed to being part of a huge portfolio,” Saban said. “I think Power Rangers can flourish and be more impactful than it has been for the past five years.”

What about the previous 700 episodes of Power Rangers? They’ll be finding a new home on the Nicktoons Network later this year, who also have new series for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Voltron on the way. What a great line-up. πŸ™‚ And according to Disney spokesman Jonathan Friedland, the Power Rangers are expected to disappear from Disney and ABC lineups “immediately.” So it’s possible we won’t even see the remaining episodes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Reversioned either. Ha.

In other somewhat-related news, Kamen Rider Dragon Knight has received a Daytime Emmy nomination in the “Outstanding Stunt Coordination” category for the episode “The Brothers Cho”. Wow. Huge news day today. πŸ™‚

I awoke in the morning and got online to finish the previous entry, then I watched Glee (very good episode this week.. already hoping for a Season 1 Blu-ray this fall) and CSI NY (actually didn’t watch a second.. I got too interested in a new game on my phone :p). Soon after the latter one ended, my dad returned home from dialysis. We watched some Ellen, then I got online for a while again.

In the afternoon, I watched four more episodes of X-Men Volume 3 (things are picking up again, luckily.. some good episodes here.. haha’s @ the brief cameo of Power Rangers look-alikes being filmed in a studio during “The Juggernaut Returns” ..there was even a tune at the end of the scene that resembled “Go Go Power Rangers” :p ). And then I got onto PlayStation Home for a while, watched 10 Things I Hate About You (lol) and then.. checked out some Japanese application that I downloaded on another PSN account (didn’t understand a word.. but you get Home rewards from it, so yeah).

We had some supper, then I got online to news-gather. This was when I found out the huge news.. posted above. Wow.. In primetime, we watched New Adventures of Old Christine (lol.. season finale, interesting direction for next season), The Middle (lol), Modern Family (lol, good episode), Cougar Town (lol) and Happy Town (I tried to watch again.. but lost interest again.. and then I lost even more interest upon seeing what happened near the end of the episode :/ ).

So that was about it. See ya.
